This circular will focus on the security of water storage tanks. Here is a list of responsibilities for MCSTs, Town Councils, and building owners:
Lock water tank covers and access doors using high-quality, non-duplicable keys. Use stainless steel brackets/fasteners to secure covers, including side covers, and fully tighten tapered round nuts. Secure electrode box covers and holders.
Conduct regular checks on security measures and maintain available records for inspection upon PUB's request.
Restrict access to authorised personnel only, keeping records of those granted access.
Prohibit the storage of items, especially flammable or volatile chemicals, in rooms or enclosures housing water tanks to prevent odour issues and maintain water quality.
Immediately notify PUB of any water contamination or suspected contamination and unauthorised access to water tanks or related premises.
