Prevention of Bird Roosting in Water Tank Enclosure Room

Prevention of Bird Roosting in Water Tank Enclosure Room

We hope you found our previous circular helpful! In it, we clarified the PUB's expectations regarding the use of pilot operated ball float valves for water storage tanks.

This circular will focus on the prevention of bird roosting in the water tank enclosure room. Here is a list of measures for MCSTs, Town Councils, and building owners to implement:

  • Regularly inspect the external areas of water tanks to ensure they are free from bird droppings and nests.

  • Recognise that bird droppings, being acidic, can corrode external surfaces of water tanks, potentially affecting water quality.

  • If corrosion signs are identified on external surfaces, promptly engage a Licensed Plumber to rectify defects and certify the tank's fitness and safety for potable water storage.

Let us work together to ensure that your water pumps deliver safe drinking water reliably.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely,

Pumps Service Centre Team
